2016 Lincoln Research Prize

for Chiropractic and Biomechanics

 

Call for Nominations
 
The Lincoln Endowed Research Chair at the University of South Florida and the Sponsors of the Lincoln Research Prize – Florida Chiropractic Association, Florida Chiropractic Foundation for Education & Research, and Lincoln Chiropractic College Education & Research Fund – are pleased to announce the 2016 Lincoln Research Prize for Chiropractic and Biomechanics. The $20,000 Prize will be awarded to an outstanding individual who has demonstrated clinical research excellence in chiropractic care over the past three years (2013-2015).
 
Criteria
 
One individual may apply for the Prize who holds either a: 1) DC or equivalent chiropractic degree and is conducting appropriate clinical research at any institution, or 2) clinical doctorate degree (example – MD) or academic doctorate degree (example – PhD) and is conducting appropriate clinical research at a chiropractic institution. The applicant must have documented evidence of outstanding clinical research contributions with direct impact on chiropractic care over the past three years (2013-2015).
  • The applicant is required to  submit all materials as outlined in “Application Requirements” below. Only self-nominations will be considered.
  • Research: Research should be completed in the past three years (2013-2015) that has significantly added to the body of knowledge in chiropractic care. For the purposes of the Prize, “completed” research is exclusively defined as full-text articles published (or accepted for publication) in peer-reviewed scientific journals; Preliminary results or final results from competitive peer-reviewed grant awards; scientific presentations; research-related service; and completion of other important scholarly works (for example, clinical practice guidelines, textbooks). Research completed before 2013 or after 2015 will not be considered. 
  • The focus of the Prize is “clinical research” in the field of chiropractic care. The US NIH defines “clinical research” as patient-oriented research, epidemiological and behavioral studies, and outcomes and health services research.   • Individuals with any formal affiliation with the University of South Florida, Florida Chiropractic Association, Florida Chiropractic Foundation for Education & Research, or the Lincoln Chiropractic College Education & Research Fund are ineligible.
  • Previous recipients of the Lincoln Research Prize during the years of 2013-2015 are ineligible.
  • Recipient will attend the 2015 Florida Chiropractic Association National Convention on August 26-27, 2016 in Orlando, Florida, USA at their own expense for award ceremony, and to give a presentation on their research.
Application Requirements
Submit application materials listed below submitted electronically via email to admin@floridachiropracticfoundation.org.
  • Application Form: 2016 Lincoln Prize Application Form.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Submit three Letters of Recommendation (submitted directly by the recommender).
  • Applicant’s curriculum vitae.
  • Representative scholarly works: Submit up to 3 abstracts of peer-reviewed publications or other completed scholarly works representative of the nominee’s research contribution during the years of 2013-2015.
The applicant is solely responsible for preparing and submitting all components of the application, requesting Letters of Recommendation from three individuals, and confirming receipt of all application materials.
 
Amount of Prize: $20,000 US
 
Deadline: All application materials must be received by June 15, 2016.
Announcement of Prize: The Prize winner will be notified by July 15, 2016 and announced at the Florida Chiropractic Association National Convention in Orlando on August 26-27, 2016.
